He currently works at Eastern Michigan University where he has worked as either a part time lecturer or a full time lecturer for the past several years in the Simulation, Animation, and Gaming major. He has been teaching classes involving 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation, rigging and particle effects in 3D Studio Max, Maya, Photoshop, and Adobe After Effects. While keeping the curriculum current with techniques and new technology by developing new classes and researching new methods, Mr. Catarino also advises students within the program. In the past year Mr. Catarino was also involved in writing for national accreditation for the Simulation, Animation and Gaming program at Eastern Michigan University. The University and the program were seeking accreditation through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and in May of 2017 Eastern Michigan University and the SAG program were approved for accreditation.

In the past year Mr. Catarino has become very involved with the Detroit ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter. He has been the acting Vice President for the chapter since October of 2016 and also chairs the chapters presenters and events committee.  He will be using his industry connections while making new connections locally and nationally within the industry to develop professional relationships to draw industry professionals to speak and present at chapter events.

Mr. Catarino also volunteers his professional skills and time to a local non-profit organization, The Clean Love Project.  The Clean Love Project is a community service project which was founded in January 2015. Our mission is to help women feel clean, loved and empowered by distributing Clean Love kits to shelters across the Metro Detroit area. Clean Love kits are distributed to women and young girls who are homeless, live in poverty or have been victims of domestic violence. Mr. Catarino volunteers his time to develop/admin graphics for websites, social media, marketing products, and t-shirts. He also is just a normal volunteer that helps assemble and distribute the Clean Love Kits.

Mr. Catarino has previously worked for MTS Technologies Inc. remotely from his home for three years as a graphics developer producing still graphics and high level 3D models and animations for Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) for military training.
